Appeal Update - October 2001 At the time of writing (3 September), our appeal fund stands at over £51,000. This sum comprises many donations and specific pledges to sponsor seven of the twelve bells. We are greatly encouraged by the continued support and interest of the people of Writtle. There is still a long way to go before we reach our target of £130,000 and meet our aim of completing the project in time for the new bells to ring out to celebrate the Queen's Golden Jubilee in June 2002. We realise this is a very ambitious target and to ensure meeting it, we need to be in a position to place an order with the foundry before the end of the year. Clearly we can't place the order until we know we will have sufficient funds, so if you are thinking of contributing to this project in any way then please don't hesitate to get in touch. We are currently planning our future fundraising events and will shortly announce the dates for your 2002 diaries, so watch this space! One event already confirmed for next year is a concert in the Church by the Essex Police Band on Saturday 27 April. Phil Stephens Tower Captain - 421022 |
